An Urgent Need Becomes a Network
Public Kitchens Across Our Homeland in One Network
Without a System, each kitchen has to call companies individually, ask for donations and wait for a response. Mozaik Foundation brought public and community kitchens across Bosnia and Herzegovina into one network. When food becomes available, kitchens in the network are notified at the same time. The first eligible kitchen to respond can reserve and collect the donation. This replaces fragmented requests with a faster, more transparent process.

nikogladan.ba: Connecting Surplus Food with People Who Need It
A company publishes the quantity, type and location of available food on nikogladan.ba. Kitchens in the network receive a notification on their smartphones. The fastest eligible kitchen reserves the donation and arranges collection. The time between publication and reservation can be less than one minute. Companies across Bosnia and Herzegovina use the System to donate surplus food instead of allowing it to go to waste.

Two Paths That Make Humanitarian Support More Sustainable
For the System to last, it cannot depend only on donations. Mozaik Foundation therefore works on two complementary paths where legislation and commercial partnerships can carry the model further.
The Legal Framework · VAT Removed
Mozaik Foundation and Pomozi.ba helped secure the reform that removed VAT from qualifying food donations through a unanimous decision in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Removing this financial barrier makes it easier for companies to donate food instead of destroying or discarding it.

The same underlying idea, connecting surplus with demand through a digital platform, also lives in ReUseChain.ba. 150+ companies use the circular-economy platform to exchange surplus materials and resources instead of disposing of them.
