Answers to the questions we hear most often from people here and abroad: about the Foundation, the Homeland Builder questionnaire, donations and our programme for local communities.
Local people. Mozaik Foundation is a local organisation, entirely independent of political parties and affiliations. Our team reflects the diversity of our country, with offices in Sarajevo and Banja Luka and more than 20 professionals from across Bosnia and Herzegovina. A Board of Directors made up of respected people from the private and development sectors oversees our work. Strategic partners have supported us for two decades, including the Governments of Switzerland and Sweden and private foundations around the world. We do not work for any political side. We work for young people.
No, and we deeply respect those that are. Humanitarian work saves people today, and many people in our diaspora have supported that work for years out of love for their Homeland. We value that deeply. But we work on what humanitarian aid cannot reach: building reasons why people should not have to depend on aid tomorrow. We are a development organisation, building young people's Skills, quality Jobs and Trust in communities so a young person has opportunities here and does not have to leave. One puts out fires. The other builds a home. Our country needs both.
From several sources, deliberately. We rely on donor grants, income from our investments, individual support and corporate partnerships. This hybrid model protects our independence from politics and any single donor. It makes us a long-term partner, not a short-term project that disappears when one source of funding dries up. It gives us stability, credibility and the independence to build our own path and strengthen communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina. And 100% of your donation still goes to programmes.
See our investments →You do not have to take our word for it: check. Every year we publish a programme report showing what we did and an independent audit of our entire operation showing where the money went. Accountability does not rest with one person, but with clear governance, oversight and internal control. We are among the organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina that maintain this standard year after year. That is why the Governments of Switzerland and Sweden and similar partners have trusted us for two decades.

No. We are not interested in whose side you are on, but in what you want to build. Mozaik Foundation works with people, communities, companies and institutions wherever results can be measured, without political affiliation.
We use your email only to send your result. You receive our communications only if you opt in: a quarterly newsletter, stories from the field and occasional invitations to support our work, approximately one or two messages per month, never more. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We never sell your data. Details are in our Privacy Policy (BHS).
Privacy Policy (BHS) →Into programmes that build young people's Skills, quality Jobs and Trust: Mozaik YouthBanks, Rolify, Tech4Impact, Mozaik ESG Solutions, Mozaik Policy Lab and solutions such as NikoGladan.ba. In short: into reasons for a young person to stay.
Explore our System →None. Every BAM you give goes directly to programmes. Our strategic partners, including the Governments of Switzerland and Sweden and other development institutions, together with our own commercial income, cover administrative and operating costs. Your support goes where you intended, not into overheads.
It does not fund a passing activity that ends and is forgotten. It builds something that lasts: a young person's first opportunity, a Skill the market needs, a business and a reason to stay. Every BAM supports one of our three directions: young people's Skills through Mozaik YouthBanks and Rolify; quality Jobs through Tech4Impact and support for young people's businesses; and Trust in local communities. Annual reports and independent audits show exactly where it went. We do not ask you to take our word for it.

The fastest way is the partnership assessment: ten questions taking about five minutes, with your result shown immediately. Based on your readiness to work with young people, capacity and ambition, it recommends a Start, Development or Strategic partnership for the four-year 2027–2030 cycle, with concrete figures for your community, or a preparatory pathway if the foundations need to be established first. The result is an internal recommendation with no obligation.
This depends on the package that suits you. Each package for 2027–2030 includes youth projects (orange grants up to BAM 3,000), youth businesses (blue grants up to BAM 10,000), expert-support vouchers and engaged volunteers. Higher packages include more of each. The assessment recommends the appropriate package and shows the number of grants and investment for your community. Mozaik Foundation adds methodology, training for the YouthBank Executive Team, peer learning and a digital record.
Mozaik Foundation adds 50% co-financing for blue grants, covers 100% of expert-support vouchers and provides 1:1 development support, but only for communities that conclude a partnership before adopting their 2027 budget. The aim is for public funding for young people's businesses to start 2027 already increased, without waiting for another cycle. Communities joining later will not enjoy this benefit in full.
In the cycle starting in 2027, we plan to work with up to 50 local communities in total, including around five to ten Strategic partnerships. New places are limited by our capacity to provide quality support: we do not accept more partners than we can support at the standard we promise.
Most municipalities and cities adopt their 2027 budgets in October or November 2026. After that, it is difficult to change the grant-fund allocation. Concluding a partnership before the deadline allows the matching mechanism to be included in the plan, so funding for young people's businesses starts already increased, without waiting for the next cycle.
Through an open public call, we recruit and qualify a YouthBank Executive Team: local young people who manage the orange-grant process and decide on grants of up to BAM 3,000 for youth projects. For blue grants of up to BAM 10,000 for youth businesses, local-government participation in interviews and decisions depends on the partnership package. The entire grant process has a digital record in the MOB portal.
Yes. A young person starting as an Executive Team assistant can progress over several cycles to local YouthBank coordinator, then to a leadership or advisory role in Mozaik Foundation's national network. Your community does more than retain young people: it becomes a source of talent recognised across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A mayor, municipal leadership or cabinet, a department responsible for social affairs, the economy or young people, or a person leading community development programmes. The partnership assessment is the first step: ten questions, about five minutes, with no obligation. It is followed by a 30-minute conversation with the Mozaik Foundation team.
Every grant call is public. Criteria are defined in advance and decisions are documented. Digital tracking in the MOB portal provides a complete overview of the investment. If your council or the public asks a question, you have a clear answer supported by evidence.
Some of the programme's most successful communities are small and rural. The programme adapts to the local context. The first goal is to build people, sound processes and evidence, then expand the network of partners and opportunities.
